Now the only way I can find to do that is go back one post at a time using the "older post" link. Maybe I am missing the link I should be using...

Anyway, great job, keep it up!David Albertsonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1574664322471762652.post-61110597217603269752013-01-28T00:51:49.806+02:002013-01-28T00:51:49.806+02:00Paddy, thanks.

The fuel being injected int the throttle bodies is just too cold to ignite. Triumph have a heating system in the Thruxton I believe, but I just put an MSR Stove under the bike for half an hour.

And yes, I have 2 batteries, the stock half size motorcycle battery under the tank and a full size Bosch S4 Winter car battery too in between the bike and the sidecar on a special battery tray. In -20 and below, the cold starting power of a MC battery is reduced down to about 20%, so if it doesn't fire up on the first try, you need to jump it, thats why I have the car battery. Hot Hands wont do much in terms of heating the throttle bodies, or more importantly heating up the oil in the engine like putting a stove under it does.

Hope this helps,

Murph.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18342381117303216041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1574664322471762652.post-15183975482056226642013-01-25T15:31:50.432+02:002013-01-25T15:31:50.432+02:00It seems you had quite an exciting holiday! In my humble opinion, there is absolutely NO WAY a 1 WD outfit could compare to a 2 WD outfit in ice and snow.
I experimented and turned off or unlocked the 2 WD and put it into 1 WD and the difference was amazing. Speed, traction, handling and stability were all much better in 2 WD. In 1 WD the rear was slipping and sliding all over the place when you accelerated on the straight and especially in turns.
Go 2 WD, you wont regret it. It's way more than useful to me. For extreme winter travel, it a necessary.

Murph.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18342381117303216041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1574664322471762652.post-8117330132997166512013-01-11T15:32:14.157+02:002013-01-11T15:32:14.157+02:00Thanks for the info Murph. The majority of sidecar drivers tell me 2WD is useless even in severe conditions, my friend who will go to Norway in Dec 2013 with his sidecar also finds it a waste of money... In fact, only drivers who have experienced 2WD say it's useful !
