Frugality is the New Happiness

I found this article very interesting,as my frugal lifestyle on the road getting by with less(there`s only so much you can fit into two panniers and a tankbag on a motorcycle) is actually having the same effect as the article talks about, which for me is finding happiness with less.

Roko Belic moved from San Fransisco to a Trailer park in malibu.

Interesting that Ms.Strobel and Mr.Smith live in Oregon too,as thats where I have found a much more laid back down to earth section of community that is missing from the east, especially where I live in S.Florida.
When I was at the Seaveys in Shady Cove OR,even Vernas father, now in his late seventies or early eightys, still composts with food leftovers from the kitchen and the undergrowth of the yard.
Rainwater is recycled for plants amoung other things in the yard.
As my trip enters into it`s second month, living out of two motorcycle panniers and 1 bag is becoming less and less challenging.I`ve already sent home 2 USPS boxes of "stuff" that I didn`t need or overpacked in my excitement and haste to make sure I had everything I "thought" I might need.
As it`s turning out,I`ve only needed about half of what I initially brought, tools being the one exception.
Passing the time becomes less of an issue as I find that the breadth and scope of natural beauty in the NW side of the U.S. is enough to keep oneself occupied for eons, should you have a love of the outdoors and nature.I`m camping right now on Summit Lake in BC,where I have been hiking, walking, having my morning coffee by the lake at 5:30am while the Loons, the National bird of Canada greets you in the morning with it`s familiar call.

I`m in a very good and happy place in my life with nothing but the Loons and a few good books and nature for entertainment. There isn`t a flat screen TV big enough to see the clouds and mist roll over the mountains that surround Summit Lake at 6am.
Pictures to follow.
